BioTEPP is a Canadian based biotechnology company that specializes in the development and the production of biological based on insect virus while preserving human health and the environment quality.

The innovative technology of BioTEPP is based on the application of indigenous baculoviruses. This type of virus is entirely specific to the targeted insect and is known for their efficacy and their highly ecological properties. Baculoviruses are already world known as efficient harmful insect population regulators. Many are registered as viral insecticides. Those biopesticides are used like any chemical product by spraying them directly onto the plant surface. However, It is important to note that they have no harmful secondary effect on humans or the environment. A viral insecticide is specific to the targeted insect.

BioTEPP’s approach, highly ecological, advocates the use of indigenous baculoviruses, non genetically engeneered, on order to avoid ecozone transfer or genetic manipulations associated risks. The active ingredient of the bioinsecticide is thus a entirely natural particle.

Our first viral bioinsecticide,
VIROSOFTCP4, is registered in Canada and the US. Furthermore, BioTEPP is now developing VIROSOFTBA3 for the control of the Bertha Armyworm and the Cabbage looper. This product is in the process of registration with the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) in Canada and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in United States. BioTEPP’s team is presently working on other viral insecticides such as the Oblique Banded Leafroller and the Cabbage Looper. BioTEPP is also in the process of developing a VIROSOFT product against Helicoverpa armigera in cotton plantations in Africa.
